Muslims and Kitabi (People of the Book)
Sunni Muslims and Shi'a Muslims, together, are equally Muslims as a whole.
Regardless of differences in religious practice, both have said "La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammadur Rasulu Allah" (Shahada) which automatically makes them a Muslim.
Anyone that says the Shahada and believes in it with full conviction is a Muslim.
Polemics aside, all are judged on their deeds. Good vs. Bad.
Regardless of sect.
Christians are believers of Allah (The One God), but they do not officially qualify to have the status of a Muslim as many Christians have not given their Shahada.
Islam, through The Holy Qur'an, acknowledges the Injeel (Sayings and Teachings of Prophet Jesus) as once being a legitimate Scripture but teachings were altered in the New Testament over time.
Still, Christians are believers.
Jews are believers of Allah (The One God) but just like the Christians, they do not qualify to be labeled as a "Muslim" if they have not taken their Shahada and believe in it with full conviction.
